Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Asthma

There have been a number of studies carried out that suggest that omega-3 fatty acids may decrease inflammation and improve lung function in children and adults who suffer with asthma. In one study, children who took fish oil supplements rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) for 10 months showed improvement in their asthma symptoms compared to those who were given a placebo pill.

However, the potential benefits of omega 3 fatty acids to asthma are still under investigation and more studies need to be carried out in order to draw any definitive conclusions.
