Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Immune Function

In 2007, a study was published in the Journal of Nutrition regarding the benefits of fish oil in relation to immune function. In this study, 64 healthy infants under the age of 12 months were given cow's milk or infant formula, either on its own, or supplemented with fish oil. It was discovered that those infants who were given the milk that was supplemented with fish oil displayed an improvement in immune function maturation, with no apparent reduction in immune activation.
